How the EP can contribute to protect and promote children’s rights

Informal training for MEPs assistants, political advisors & EP staff. Hosted by Katarína Neved’alová, MEP

The Lisbon Treaty and the EU Fundamental Rights Charter put the protection of the rights of the child at the heart of the Union’s objectives. Children’s rights must be safeguarded across EU policies as all have a direct or indirect impact on children lives.

As a promoter and guarantor of fundamental rights, the European Parliament can play a crucial role to ensure the rights of children are considered throughout the EP legislative process, including when assessing the compatibility of its proposals with the EU Fundamental Rights Charter.

This session, conducted in collaboration with Eurochild and Plan EU Office, aims to improve participant’s understanding of children’s rights and how can they contribute to protecting the rights of the children in their daily work and by so contributing to improve the lives of millions of children both inside and outside the European Union.
